There was an open room in my house last year, so Sully reached out and moved in. We knew each other, but only in passing, though I had always been a fan of his riding. I remember lapping at Woodward one day with him over the winter and seeing him switch back lip the quad kink second try. A month or so after we started living together, it was his birthday, and I was making breakfast when he came down. I asked how old he was. He said he was turning 19 and I almost started laughing. I knew he was young, but the fact that he had been 18 that whole time blew me away. Sully can get rowdy, sure—who doesn’t when they're that age. But he has a head on his shoulders, one that I appreciated thoroughly while we were living together. And you can see that in his riding too. There’s something special about it, and I appreciate that too.

I feel the general reader of Slush might not be familiar with Team Elevin. Can you help out the folks at home and give a quick rundown of what it is?
We’re just a group of friends. We met in high school, and then we all moved to Salt Lake and started snowboarding a lot together. We got inspiration from Dustbox and Lick The Cat, people like them. But we kind of wanted to do our own thing, not make it exactly like theirs, put our flavor into it. But honestly I'd say we’re just a group of friends.
Did you guys all move out here with the intention of crewing up and doing that?
For sure. When we were younger we would talk about it a lot.
This video that’s about to come out is the second Team Elevin video, how do you see this compared to last year? To the first video?
I think it's a lot better. We were all together this year.
Were you not last year?
No. Last year I think I filmed one clip with Murphy [Doyle], our filmer. Everything else was with other people. But this year we made a plan to go to Minnesota preseason, and then go home for Christmas, and then all link up.
Was it more intentional this year? Like, did you all want to be together and film a cohesive piece?
100%.
And do you guys think you achieved that?
I think we did. It makes it so much easier and you can just get way more footage, just being with everyone.

I feel like for how young you are—all of you—you've developed your own style in a way that…I don't know…it's hard to explain. Looking back on when so many other riders were 18 and 19, it can be hard to know what you want to look like. And like obviously your style will keep evolving as you get older, but for what it is now, it's pretty damn good. How do you make sense of that?
When we were younger we would look up to the pros or whoever we liked, and would maybe take a couple tricks. Say it's a cab two, I would be like, "Okay, I'm gonna try and do a cab two like Tommy." And then you keep doing it, you keep doing it, and then your style works itself out as you get older. So, I don't know. I just kept snowboarding.
I think I meant in the way you guys dress. I feel like you’re at the age where you can still have little-kid-ste if you’re not careful.
It’s the same shit with that. I've kind of been starting to give less of a crap about how I dress, and just wear what I wanna wear, even if it looks goofy. But you just take a little bit from people you like and then add your own flavor to it.
Do snowboarders trip out when they find out how young you guys are? Cause I mean, I was thinking about it the other day, a lot of you weren’t even alive when Pluto was a planet.
I know. Yeah, for sure. Me and Jayden are the youngest, we just turned 20. I think people think we're older.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
I don't know. I like being young. I think it's cool to be younger. We get more life lessons that way.
What's next for Team Elevin? Is there gonna be another video?
We're gonna do one, same vibe as last year. Go to Minnesota in December, stay there for a week or two and then go home for Christmas and then probably link up back in Boston, everyone lives really close to Boston. And then from Boston we kind of can just go anywhere.
Any shout-outs?
Shout out the Dustbox, and all the older homies who are down to support us. And everyone's parents helped us a shit ton, which is really dope, they're all supportive.
